My cosplay con curse may have been broken?!
I legitimately had anxiety when my brother, Nordic Hammer J, asked me to make him a Violent Night replica Santa suit to meet David Harbour in.
Not once, not twice, but THREE TIMES in the past when I’ve made a specific costume to meet a specific actor in the actor ended up cancelling their appearance at Motor City Comic Con. (Norman Reedus, Tara Strong, and MY QUEEN Christina Ricci.) And the first two ended up having major injuries! 😱
Meeting David Harbour was SO important for mi hermano, I was literally terrified that making his suit would result in David cancelling. I sweat-shopped the entirety of his costume by hand and without patterns this WEEK in order for my bro to have something to wear holding out until the very last minute holding my breath and hoping with all my costuming heart that no cancellation announcements were made. (Still need to make his leather vest, bracers, and Naughty & Nice list scroll, but they’ll be for the next wear.) 😅
Maybe it’s because the suit wasn’t for me - but I’m so happy that my brother got to meet his Santa and get recognition from David himself for the getup. ❤️🎅🏻
Huge thanks to @dkharbour for attending the convention and the @motcitycomiccon for making this meeting possible!
